TIFF DAY 3: Inescapable, Disconnect, Passion, Therese Desqueyroux

After two “hardcore” days of waiting around and rationing my water and snacks, I needed some time to recover before my third round of TIFF celebrity stalking. Check out my TIFF DAY 1 and DAY 2 posts if you haven’t already and my guide to seeing the celebrities next year. And onto DAY 3!

A Syrian-Canadian father returns to Syria in search of his lost daughter who secretly traveled to Damascus, but vanished. The father, played by Alexander Siddig, was a former member of the Syrian resistance movement and must once again use his resources and connections to get his daughter back.

Director Ruba Nadda

Alexander Siddig

Oded Fehr

Alexander Siddig and Oded Fehr were amazing sports on the red carpet and certainly enjoyed their time with the fans.

Joshua Jackson

Diane Kruger

Diane Kruger showed up in a stunning embellished top in support of her boyfriend Joshua Jackson (a.k.a. “PACEY!!!” from Dawson’s Creek or Peter in Fringe), who plays a Canadian embassy official helping Siddig.

Marisa Tomei

This gal never ages! Okay, maybe in the closeup shots around the eyes. She’s very sweet but wished she had stayed on the red carpet longer.

This film explores the impact and danger the Internet plays in our daily lives when too much of ourselves and our needs are exposed.

Paula Patton

Paula Patton

Paula was incredibly friendly and humble on the red carpet, as she took her time to sign autographs and take photos with her fans. It’s crazy how unbelievably beautiful this actress is in person! She was all laugh and smiles!

Jason Bateman

I was mostly looking forward to seeing Jason, as he’s my #1 favourite TV dad (in Arrested Development). His face was intense as he walked pretty much straight to the Step and Repeat. Boo. Unfortunately, Alexander Skarsgard (from True Blood) left Toronto early the week before ad didn’t show up to this premiere.

In this erotic thriller, Rachel McAdams plays a high powered career woman in an ad agency with kinky sexual needs, taking advantage of Noomi Repace’s growing ambition to move up the corporate ladder from her assistant role. Revenge takes a hold.

Rachel McAdams

I’ve never seen Rachel McAdams in person before, but she was one of my favourite actresses back in the Gosling era… However, we got to the venue late and stood across the street by Eaton Centre. Rachel stepped out of the car, posed for a few minutes by the Step and Repeat, but that was about it. She didn’t spend any time with her fans lined up on the side. Even more disappointing was not seeing Noomi Rapace there (the original Girl with the Dragon Tattoo).

Audrey Tautou plays a 1920s housewife in a convenient and loveless marriage, when she explores her need of wanting more in love and life. Think Anna Karenina.

Audrey Tautou

Audrey used to be my favourite French actress (until Marion Cotillard came along), but I still loved her in Amelie. Marion was all smiles on DAY 1 of TIFF, but Audrey was the complete opposite. She looked like she was in a bad mood the whole time and didn’t do much to greet fans. *Le Sigh*

And that’s how my TIFF Stalking endeavours came to a crashing halt. Until next year!
