The island of Capri boasts glitz, glamour and luxury – if you’re lucky, you might even see the likes of Hollywood celebrities such as Julia Roberts, Lindsay Lohan, The Kardashians, Jennifer Lopez and many others. What I find more spectacular about the island is the hiking trails – but do expect A LOT of walking! I’d recommend the shorter route that most people go on (~2-3 hours), as I didn’t feel Villa Lysis and Villa Jovis were worth going to and will shave 2 hours off the longer 5-hour trail. Oy!

From Sorrento, walk to the marina area where you can board the hydrofoils or ferries to get to Capri. Note: for the best scenic view, sit on the LEFT SIDE.

Island Boat Tour and Blue Grotto (Grotta Azzurra): Once you arrive at the island, take a morning boat tour around Capri Island. If you pay a bit extra, you can visit the Blue Grotto – a sea cave that reflects an intense beautiful blue colour. I wasn’t able to see it unfortunately, as the water was too choppy that day. I would highly recommend taking some Gravol 30-60 minutes prior to boarding one of these tours. The ride can be rocky depending on weather.

La Piazzetta: After your boat tour, take the funicular railway to reach Capri Town. You’ll be in the main square where a much needed snack and caffeine fix is in order.

Walking Trail: From the main square, follow the signs for Arco Naturale. Take your time and soak in the beautiful houses on the way. Once you move away from the residential and commercial area and into nature, you’ll eventually see a huge natural arch way, which is now the remains of a collapsed grotto. Continue descending down the windy path and at some point you’ll see Faraglioni over the coast – the famous three rocks. Continue on your way and you will reach Via Krupp, a windy foot path that will eventually lead you to Marina Piccola.

Window Shopping: All the stores in Capri are pretty high end. Nuff said! A girl can dream though.

Enjoy the rest of your day on the island and return to Sorrento as your home base. And now onto DAY 12: Sorrento, Positano, Amalfi Coast, Ravello
